Hi all,
Autumn has arrived, not only in season, but for many in mood as well. While we can't share a cup of coffee with a slice of Maja's cake, I propose a virtual get together.
Who: Anyone. If you're not in Tasmania, just put on a warm jacket and pretend. But seriously, everyone is welcome regardless of where you are. I'm sure a lot of us who have been stuck at home for several weeks could do with seeing real faces and participating in a chat.
Date: Monday 27 April
Time: 18:00
How: I will host a video conference using Zoom. On Monday, I will post the meeting link in this thread. In the interim you can install Zoom on your computer, phone or tablet. To keep a semblance of order if we have lot's of participants, I will run the get together as a circular chat format, where everyone gets a turn in sequence to share and respond to others.
IF YOU ARE A TECHNICAL NUMPTY don't let that stop you!
If this sounds too complicated, but you would like to participate, it is really quite easy once you know how. If you are stuck, PM me your phone number before Monday afternoon and I will call you and help you get set up before hand.
Some helpful suggestions:
Use headphones if you have some available.
Mute your microphone in the zoom app and unmute when you want to talk. If you're connecting from a computer, you can use the space bar like a walkie talkie (press to talk). This all helps reduce feedback.
I'm looking forward to catching up with those who regularly attend the get togethers, and hopefully meet a bunch of you from further afield too.
Kind regards,
Lance
P.S. If you feel compelled to tell me we shouldn't be using Zoom for one reason or another, please don't. :)
