Wheely Bin Tow Hitch

Been meaning to make something more convenient than a piece of rope for ages.
Bent up out of a piece of 1/2" reo with some hose and heat shrink where needed.
Works great, over bumps, around corners, no problems.
The garbo truck turns around about 400 meters from my house, so this will make things a bit easier.

This brought a big smile as I remembered one of the stories the late Neil Scobie like to tell. :U

Neil was of one of his trips to town where everybody seemed to be much more friendly than usual frantically waving to him as he drove into town. Neil was in the habit of towing the wheelie bin behind the ute down to the road, but on this day had forgotten to stop and unhitch the wheelie bin. :rolleyes:

It seems that wheelie bin wheels & tires have a higher speed rating than we thought. :D Probably better than most space saver spares these days.

At my work years ago was a bloke who was not the sharpest knife in the drawer and pretty dodgy.

One day he was spotted driving down the centenary highway, at 100kmh, with the wheelie bin hanging off his towbar.

A number of years ago there was a guy in the Blue Mountains, who won the 'Boofhead of the Week' award on ABC weekend radio in Sydney for this same activity - 110 kph on the M4! :oo:

Nice and cheap idea. A few years ago, there was a bloke on Shark Tank trying to get the panel to invest in his wheelie bin coupling, which hooked on to the towball, can't remember how he got on though??
Another one on there, came up with a hook device that allowed 2 bins to be coupled together to move them around.

Ive got a yellow plastic one that hooks onto the towball of the car. I was trying to figure out how to use that hitch to go onto the back of the Mule. In the end, this was an easier solution.
There is a spot on the other side where I can put another one of these reo hooks, can take two bins at a time then.
