I love this self isolation, plenty of shed time and no interruptions. This one is number 7 of the series, number 8 is nearly finished and will be the last one. I have been playing around with a basic shape, but varying the design to see what the finished thing looks like, lots of learning. A finished job looks not quite like a two dimension drawing.

This one is about 200mm diameter and about 100mm high, made from huon pine and black bean for contrast. Finished with sanding sealer, because black bean is an open pored wood and needed it. The huon pine did not need sanding sealer. One coat of sprayed lacquer and buffed to a soft glow. the motif in the bottom is one of my own.

Finished up ok.

Another great piece Jim. I think you are striking a nice balance with these pieces, flowing shapes, some contrast from the segmentation but not overpowering. Some segmented work, while technically brilliant, is way too busy and not appealing to my eye.
