Howdy!477683477684477685477686 Lying around under the house I found some old boards that used to be a cupboard. I was going to make a prototype for an upcoming project so yesterday I got them out and started getting them ready. I don't have a lot of experience with softwoods, and was hoping someone might be able to help identify this timber. Im also not sure that the 4 boards are of the same species, they are pretty old & dirty and I don't think I've taken enough off to really tell. The middle two are definitely the same and I think the outer 2 match also. It smelled pretty unusual and also seemed a little bit waxy or oily.

I'm fairly confident that none of those boards are Huon Pine. Huon is quite slow growing so tends to have a very fine grain. This stuff might well be a Kauri or some other native north coast pine.

I reckon its very aged Macrocarpa - Cupressus Macrocarpa.
