hi i have a saw bench that i bought last year .it worked fine but now when i switch it on the motor hums but will not start the blade rotating unless i give it a spin with a stick..if i dont spin it the blade starts to slowly move in the oposite direction ie backwards...any advice please ....alan:confused:

It sounds like the start windings are not working.
This could be due to
1. Dirty contacts on start switch
2. Defective capacitor
3. Broken wire to capacitor.
Get an electrical fitter to look at it.

Same old, same old.

Your symptoms are identical to many others in recent threads.

Do a Forum search on capacitors, or save some time and just replace the capacitor on the motor. Less than $20.
