I was in Bunnings today in the tool section and looked at the corner where the router bits are displayed and noticed that there were no Diablo bits there. They have been removed and the area is being filled with Kreg gear. I thought they may have moved them to another location but couldn't find them anywhere and when I got home I had a look at their website and they are no longer listed. All they sell now is their low end Ultra brand.
So I assume they are now going to undercut the specialist suppliers on the smaller Kreg gear. At the moment their pocket hole screws are higher priced than other places but I'm sure that will change. In the meantime they will get the occasional person come in and get their price match less 10% and not make as much on that sale.

Diablo is part of Freud which in turn is owned by Bosch. They are probably going to drop Bosch completely - very small selection of tools still available.

Yeah, Diablo saw blades disappeared from my local Bunnings about six months ago, same with the router bits.

Bosch tools are moving to only being sold through Total Tools and Blackwoods - didn't realize this included their other branded companies as well.

Blackwoods is part of the Wesfarmers group. Also includes Coles, Officeworks and Bunnings.

Diablo make really good multi tool cutting blades. I was always frustrated that Bunnings was the only place to get them. I have a Total Tools closer to home. I will have to have a better look. On the other hand Carbatec used to be the only supplier of Kreg. Bunnings is closer to home than them.

Dropping Diablo is a surprise, but perhaps they were more "taken" than dropped.

Kreg is a good choice for bunnings. They cater well to the mentality of the DIY.

The likes of those big tool stores seem to be taking a rod to Bunnings. Excellent!

When you say “taken”, taken by whom?

Diablo’s Australian website shows only two suppliers - Bennington Warehouse and Total Tools.
Now that Bunnings seems to have dropped them, that leaves Total Tools only which have a smaller presence.

Coles is no longer owned by Wesfarmers, they demerged a year or 2 ago.

Business development deal. Total Tools snavveled all the business and/or rights to distribute?

This reminds me that I'm after a GOOD set of 1/4" router bits for the new trim router.... (a cordless Makita!) :U

I'll just post a fact for at least the ACT

A search on Diablo turns up 161 active instore items available to buy in the local Bunnings.

Seems more like they are rationalizing out the low volume sellers.

The Kreg stuff has been out for a few weeks locally.

It is also possible that there has been a supply problem. With the current pandemic, many items have been, or still are delayed in manufacture and shipping.

I believe the discussion originated re Router bits.

Yes it appears that it's only the router bits that have been dropped, but all the sandpaper and blades are still in all stores. In some stores they are also listing Craftmaster router bits which I believe are made in New Zealand so would be easy to source.

I unfortunately shop at Bunnies two/three times a week.
An have noticed in the last 2/3 months supply issues, and empty spaces on the shelves.

An I feel it’s going to look like that for quite a bit of time unfortunately.

Cheers Matt.
Sorry too the OT for high jacking the thread.

The thing is, that if you buy from somewhere other than Bunnings, you get some service.
Kreg stuff has been available in Total Tools for a while now. Plus the best pocket hole screws and Robertson screws in general is ScrewIt Screws. IMHO.
For router bits I try to buy Carbitool from Total Tools if I can afford it.

Quite honestly i've got better service out of my two local bunnings than either total tools or sydney tools in Canberra.

Kreg unless actually in store is i have been told point blank by Sydney tools is "order in" from Carbatec.... I have no idea what Bunnings deal is but at least they are another retail source of the common Kreg stuff
