And, unbelievably, the dog had to pick this particular box to eat, so now I probably can't return it either :U
maybe the dog was trying to tell me something

I just want to throw one quick question out there that I'm sure you've already checked and considered, but is your square, square? I ask because I've heard of less-than-stellar feedback on a few of the products with that badge on it...

Yeah it's square, I tried with an engineers square from iGaging as well. It's crooked, I could see it with bare eye, that's why I checked with the square in the first place.
They just printed the stupid scale a little bit off.

Incidentally, is there a clamp on square for Makita rails ala the Festool version?

By the look of it, somethings not straight either, there’s a gap at each end and it’s touching about 3/4s the way up?

Such a shame as Makita used to have a really good name. My plane and router from the 80tes are still going strong but not sure I would go there now if that has become the standard. Anyhow I would be sending it back as not fit for purpose. It's the receipt that counts more than the box or proof of payment. Was it ebay as they are pretty good at getting things resolved.

Nah that's not a gap at that top, that's light reflecting on the wide side of the square.
It's just really hard to take that photo perfectly, if you can imagine holding the makita thing perfectly against the square with one hand and the camera with the other.

Just trust me, the thing is off. Doesn't take a lot, they printed the scale about one mm lower than they should.

I know that Jesus Christ was a carpenter, but what has this exactly have to do with your Makita issue?

Yes there is a clamp on square for makita tracks. I bought it from carbatech. I can’t remember the name but it’s a blue aluminium one. Works really well.

The Festool/TSO clamp on squares work with the Makita rails.

I do consider the title of this thread is inappropriate.

While I am not very religious, and have been known to swear, when something is put in writing, particularly as a heading then it stands out more.

I don't think we need to be overly PC, but I believe this goes too far for a quality Forum such as this.

Bauldy

Update: Thankyou for the updated title.
