It does't look like this forum is terribly active, but I'll give it a go anyway. I was wondering if any of the marquetarians out there know of any sources of veneer offcuts in the Melbourne area? For use in marquetry of course.

Thanks, Chris

I already pickup some on ebay. Some from Tas, and some from UK. I would love to find a cabinet maker etc, who currently junks their offcuts.

has a very wide range of marquetry veneers in many different sizes, including offcuts the last time I was there, and in mnay different timbers. I suggest you give him a try. That is the best source I know in Melbourne

Thanks Charles,

I know Peter, the only problem is that you need to be specific about what you're after, whilst I am just trying to build up a range. Maybe I'll try asking him for $x of assorted A4 bits, and see what he says.

Woodpeckers is selling veneer starter packs www.woodpeckers.com.au (http://www.woodpeckers.com.au) but if you are looking for freebies to experiment on try a antique restorers bin

:( It's a pity you are not in Sydney. I have access to a large box (1500mm x 800mm x 800mm) of veneer offcuts which anyone can have for the taking. That is, you have to take the whole box and it is heavy.

Anyone interested?

Willex, I posted your offer in the timber forum. I'm pretty sure someone will be interested.
