I bought a new Nicholson bastard file (made in Sth. America), I managed to dull it after a few hours of use on high carbon steel !
I tried the white vinegar etch but that has not had any effect , no good. Maybe a stronger acid is needed. Maybe the prep wasn't good enough, cleaning the grooves, I used a copper scraper.
Any suggestions ?
