I'm relatively new to metal working scene and needed a proper workbench for the garage , i mostly weld up 3-5mm rhs and 3mm angle so I've been on the hunt for suitable workbench that will be strong enough to work steel on and finally found one. It's an old style factory work bench made in the 70's , its main feature is a 14mm one piece thick 6061 aluminium flat plate top grounded to a smooth flat surface , originally made in Germany and shipped to Victoria , size is 2500x2250 approx and has square corners as a bonus. It's heavy table approx 800kg , underneath are 6 x 250x200 solid cast steel beams that support the top and 6mm C section legs welded together facing each other on castors. I used it today to weld a bit of tube and it worked perfectly so i'm pretty happy with it. I'll laminate it with a 10mm steel plate later on so i can use it for welding and assembly ect. It was another drive fest to get it but worth the trip !
