Hi Brains Trust,

I've got the large Triton Router with the rack & pinion plunge system (model TRA001 I think?) fitted into a Carbatec router table with their router lift - Carbatec Lift N Lock Router Lift | Carbatec (https://www.carbatec.com.au/carbatec-router-lift-plunge-type-suit-kr-and-rt-table)
I've tried everything but I can't get the lift to wind up far enough to get a spanner on the collet to loosen/tighten it to change router bits. I've looked closely at the whole setup and for some reason the router won't go all the way down the plunge guide cylinders - the router stops short about 20mm from the bottom of the cylinders - if I can get the router down all the way that last 20mm then I think the collet will just poke out of the top of the table enough to get a spanner on it - but how do I get it down that last 20mm? I suspect that someone has probably come up against this problem before so hopefully someone will know the answer!

Hi mate

make sure the router is turned off and the switch guard has slid over the switch

this one still gets me after many times

its all part of the safety interlock

After ensuring the cover is over the switch when it is turned off, lower the router all the way then raise it all the way. This resets the interlock mechanism.
You wouldn't be the first person to have this problem!

Thanks for your help everyone - that indeed was the cause of the issue - what a complicated bit of kit!

…what a complicated bit of kit!

It is. Too complicated I reckon. I removed the sliding switch guard from my TRA001.
