I'm going to post it here. Not getting an answer on the tool forum.
Has anyone taken apart a Stihl chainsaw made in the last 5 years?
I have a Stihl MS170 bought in 2005 for $159 new. They are now $199.

I was using it and the oiler failed. I should say there was to much oil but it wasn.t getting to the blade. So I thought either the tank split or the line had a hole in it. NO!!!!! Keep reading.

So I started to take it apart. I figured a way to get the flywheel off with no puller. I did get the handle off. but if some one knows an easy way let me know. I did most of the work after dark with poor light so sorry no pics.

I found sawdust everywhere. Around the carb, clutch, under the gastank, and oil tank, in every crevasse. Everywhere!!

I clean my saws after every use, every time.

The saw had the oiler blocked off so oily sawdust was going everywhere.
There is nothing wrong with the saw. I have over 3 hours labor(my Own) in it already, and it's still not clean enough to reassemble.

Just so you know you can't even get a parts breakdown fron Stihl. This is the worst saw I've ever worked on. My question is are all the new Stihl chainsaws this hard to work on?

Has anyone had the same problem?

Thanks Walter
