Lidded Vessel

We had our monthly meetings today and the latest issue of Fine Woodworking was perused for safety, before being added to the library. The Librarian did ask if I had looked at it and then said that there was a lidded vessel in amongst the flat work. He also said, that I had never made one . . .

This is a practice piece, turned from a lump of FIS timber, sanded a bit and a touch of the eee.515588

The finial is a piece of Solomon Islands Ebony, that I got off here, some time back.515589

The lid may have warped a little, as it no longer sits flat.:~

I'm not sure on the form/shape. Seems over top heavy and the finial too chunky.
But this is just my opinion.
Others with more knowledge and skill that I'll ever have may comment.
