Greg - please define what you mean by 'treen' - it really just a North English/South Scots dialect word that means something made out of wood.
Do you mean specifically table wear?, or 'black & white' segment turning? Something specific to a time & place?
BTW - I have been trying to get a book on domestic wood objects from Amazon & it seems the best thing published lately is Out-Of-Print :(

Hi Bsrlee,
I always thought that treen meant kitchen type things. Wooden spoons, salad forks and tongs, breadboards, all things of this nature. I can't believe that sombody has not written a book on this subject. If there is one I haven't found it yet.

From memory there's some instructions in one of Raffan's books on spatulas FWIW. Also trawl through woodturning mags.

This is the most current book I could find - unfortunately as soon as I ordered it, Amazon decided that it was out-of-print. They also list a number of 2nd hand books on treen/tableware.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1851492844/qid=1135333506/sr=1-15/ref=sr_1_15/104-7339518-4785528?s=books&v=glance&n=283155
You probably need to do a search thru' Abebooks or another on-line 2nd hand book source - Amazon's prices vary from just OK to laughably inflated.
