Hey all,

First post, was hoping for some advice from some members.

Looking at picking up a Aust made Cobra wood lathe (still made in aus), seems before they went offshore.

It looks in good condition but it has round bars for the lathe bed, vs cast which i am more familiar with.

Are these still considered a decent unit? Is there any issues with the round bar beds to be aware of?
0.75kW so not a huge motor, but still hopefully enough to not be an issue with what i need to turn

Thanks for any advice,

They were a good lathe, 6 speed swivel head.
Some did not like the round bars, but it is still very serviceable.
The 1hp motor is a good motor.

Thanks Jim i appreciate the feedback. Makes me a little bit less hesitant to part with my hard earnt dolleroos.
I didn't notice a swivel head on any of the photos, i wonder if that was an option?

It was standard on the cobra lathe.
They had the awkward way of undoing some bolts in the head stock to allow you to rotate the head.
it was always a bugger to realign perfectly though.
