View Full Version : Workaround for broken RAS return spring?

Hi All. I've just broken the spring that retracts the cable on my DeWalt DW720 Radial Arm Saw. I've looked online, but it's looking like I'll have to buy the whole subassembly for over $100. Does anyone know if there's someone who makes non-genuine parts for this saw? The spring unit is a sealed metal canister with a plastic axle running through it. It looks like the spring inside has come loose from the centre shaft. I might have to try butchering my way into the canister to see if I can do a clayton's fix... Any suggestions or work-arounds to fix this? Thanks, Vic.

Just take it off and bin it most RAS's don't have a return spring

It most likely is but there are thousands of RAS's in use that don't have it, and diligent safety on the part of the user would be a "work Around" if you do not want replace it
