A weird little nut:

It has two little sections almost cut out. I assume with a slitting saw.
Probably meant to be hit with a hammer so they spring lock into the bolt thread.
Another odd one is the "speed nut."
Take a perfectly good strong nut, and bore a clearance hole in there at an angle, so it only engages with maybe 1/3 of the original thread, but lets you tilt it and slide it off completely.
What other weird stuff have you seen?
