I have an iron motorbike finned cylinder head, that I want to change the looks of.
I was wondering if it is possible to metal spray aluminium onto it?
And would it last?
Background:
In 1950, the company that made AJS motorbikes came out with a competition single cylinder model.
It had an aluminium alloy cylinder head, the first time it was adopted.
From the next year, all AJS cylinder heads were of aluminium. However, the design was changed.
The first one was made from the same pattern as the iron head, whereas the later ones used a different pattern, and the change was significant.
As the originals are super rare, to simulate the 1950 "Compy" head, I could just paint an iron one.
But a metal sprayed coating could be better?
