damaged gear

Here's a pic of a gear from the feed train in a 1992 Hafco planer thicknesser. There are stripped teeth in the area between 7 and 8 o'clock, (not a great pic I'm afraid) and of course similar machines have changed over the years and Hafco no longer have that particular part. The question is, is such damage repairable or do I look for a gear maker? Hafco have recommended a gear maker but I haven't got a quote yet.
