View Full Version : Heads Up FORUMS OUTAGES - Info

MWF FEED

Bit late getting to this but here's an update of what's going on.

Forum Outage last week: was due to space restrictions on server which was rectified last Sunday 3rd March and has resulted in the server disc space now being 100% larger then a week ago, plus a heap more ram than before. So you may find it working a bit lot faster now.

Well that was until today when the whole thing was blocked by the provider because of a report from Cloudflare to the provider that Metal Work Forums was being used for phishing.
So MWF was suspended and because both forums share the same server so was WWF. https://www.woodworkforums.com/images/smilies/sad/gaah.gif

This was all thanks to another low life mongrel posting a link in a thread on MWF to a deleted/taken down/defunct/no longer existing website. This lead to numerous replies to a ticket on the providers site, plus lots of head scratching and some pretty swift slow, annoying unwarranted work between myself and Steven to sort the whole bloody mess out.

Got it back up and running again and then it was closed down again because the reply from me wasn't detailed enough. More messages to them and still not able to get back in as Cloudflare said the offending link was still there even though it had been deleted and the lowlife banned and reported, etc.

Anyway some 6+ hours later and some gnashing of teeth, a well worded message to them from Steven finally got them to realise they were targeting the wrong people (us) and put it back up again at 2:43pm with a final message saying the matter was resolved at 2:53pm.

Good work and a big thank you to Steven who then spent some time sorting out the programming so this shouldn't happen again.

PS If you get a PM or see a link to spam, scam, phishing or any other ne'er-do-well activity. Please report it and we might be able to sort it before we have the forums shut down again thanks to the likes of he/she/it, who caused this today (yesterday).
