Has anyone ever heard of Hirsch chisels for woodturning?

I have seen a set on eBay I might be interested in...

They are supposedly from Germany and are the "two cherry" brand...

Cheers

I don't know about the turning chisels but I have a set of Two Cherries bench chisels which are quite nice. Good steel. The only downside with them was that they were polished, which puts rounded edges on the blades that take a lot of elbow grease to remove. Otherwise, no complaints.

From what I've seen in normal chisels the Hirsch are unpolished versions of Two Cherries with less fancy handles, don't know about the steel quality.

I don't know if the above applies to turning chisels.

Thanks Mr C.

I may just put a little bid on them then.

There is a ww online store, in Germany I believe, that offers the chisels in polished or unpolished form. see http://www.fine-tools.com/stemmb.htm

Cheers!

HMMM, I wonder how many sheckels that would mean after conversion rates, bank charges, shipping costs, bank charges, assorted charges and bank fees?

I'd love a set of these suckers. :(

Currently 1 Euro = 0.615 AU$. Factor in about 30 ~ 50$ for shipping, depending on the size/weight of your purchase

Lee Valley have the Hirsch variant of these for $US95. Same steel, same blades, different handles.
