hi all

has anyone ever had work cracking near the spacers or bushings.

if so has any one figured out how to stop it

mostly it is occuring with opalac acrylic.

have i been doing something wrong for this to occur:confused: ?????????

Turn Opalac at high speed use a sharp skew chisel, watch your technique.
Light cuts , light sanding, do not over heat.

Just check the amount of presure you are applying to the blanks by the nut on the mandrel. Only tighten it up enough to stop the blank spinning.

Yes you did !! when sanding, you over heated the blank so he crak, you can save your pen by parting off the crak and adding another ring of diferent acrylic or corian, 2 colours on the pen look good, do the gluing with CA

If you tight the nut to much on your madrel you will end up with an oval pen but not prevent crack:D
