I visited this shop a few times: impressive pieces, magnificent in fact, but not really to my taste.

Have a look at the millions of dollars that some people will pay for original pieces.

The proprietor makes everything himself completely by hand using traditional tools and methods.

He has also written an excellent book:

I have that book, and it IS excellent. It's a good primer on cabinet construction all by itself, and doesn't spoon feed you all the way.

Federal style isn't to everyone's taste, that's for sure, but some pieces are simply beautiful. The original makers are not held in such high esteem for nothing.

Pretty stuff, as you say not to everyone's task. I felt completely alienated when I noticed they don't make obviously low-class furniture like coffee tables (said with a sneer) oh no! they have tea tables...as befitting fine bone china.:D

Amazing work but.......yech. Those ball/claw feet took hours, but give me the creeps. What's the appeal of a chopped off bit of bird made of wood?

Each to theirs though.
