I have turned Christmas trees (Small)
It is best to use green (wet) wood.
Use the skew flat on the rest using the point at an angle.
This raises curls which look like fir trees. Then paint green.
Can be quite attractive. It was an article in a magazine that caught my eye, but cant remember which one or when.

I would be most surprised if any body would have one available as a standard item.
Just get a cheap skew and have at it with the grinder.
You are probably refering to a section in one of mike darlows books.
cheers
