I never had the opportunity to turn Bambu !!!
I have done it, quite special as is it hollow but where you have the knots of the bambu you succeed in doing amaizing figures due to the end of the fiber.

Sorry
I should have written it below the photo. When you have it on your screen it looks quite large but:
diametre : 10,6 centimeters ( 5/12 " ???)
Heigth: 6,2 centimeters ( 1/4 " ???)

I'm not sure about the conversion. :(

Do you turn the Bamboo wet or dry? I have some dry, but no wet. This looks like end grain turning, so is the foot of the piece the divider inside of the Bamboo? Thanks.

I turn it dry as we have no Bamboo that big in Italy...
Yes indeed the inside of the bowl is the divider of the bamboo. At least that is what I was trying o do and that is what you see on the picture
But... (why is there so often a but ????) in order to do e very nice exterior of the bowl I used all the thickness of the divider and notice my bowl was laying on the table rather that sitting (if you see what I mean; it looked like it was "Heavy"). So I cut a ring of bamboo and glued it on the bottom which makes the piece look much nicer (only my own taste :) ).
I'll shoot a pic and will post it later

some time later....
Here is the pic, badly taken because of the darkness and the sight which corresponds to my age.... :(

Claude,(is this correct?)
I have several pieces of Bamboo, about 7.62 cm wide, so I must try them on the lathe. Thanks.

Laurie Ann,
We got the Bamboo down in Florida. It grew in the yard of a Gulf coast home we used to own in Port Charlotte FL (before the 2004 hurricanes...gone now).

Come up very nicely - much better that I would have imagined :)
