SWMBO has put in an order for a "French provincal" hall table complete with a photo from a pommie magazine. It's going to be PAINTED so there was no point in paying for furniture timber. I had forgotten what a pain RP is to turn. Still, it's so cheap and the weak grain structure can be filled easily with bog. Truly it is said, paint covers a multitude of sins.

Next time, instead of crapiata look at KDHW. Almost as cheap, better strength and easier to turn... provided you select wisely in the first place.

Yep. Sorry for not making it clear, but one gets used to certain acronyms. :o

It's still not the best choice for furniture (even painted) as most KDHW isn't properly cured and tends to move. It's still an improvement over radiata in 'most every way.

Even so, you only get as good as you pay for.
