View Full Version : Adelaide Wood Show Dinner? 15/7/2006

Ian007
12th March 2006, 01:09 PM
I was wondering would any of you guys like to do a Dinner Meet & Greet on the Saturday of the Working With Wood Show?

The date will be Saturday 15th July 2006

I was thinking that we could go somewhere in the City, but I dont know where, that way its kind of central for everyone.

Yes I know that may mean that some will not have any money because they spent the lot at the wood show,

But thats why I am asking this early so people could budget for it and save there money if they need too.

Also that way we could meet some of our fellow forum members that may be here working at the wood show if they want to meet us that is:o

Over too you

Cheers Ian:)

Well, clearly I wasn't

I would claim temporary insanity but I don't think it's all that temporary. :D

Seriously though it would have cost me an extra $600 the following week of the school holidays, which is the only option I have of going because my son is in year 12 this year.

We'll be at the snow too :(

Himzol, where are you going?

We're off to Falls. I usually have free time in the mornings (one kid with a disability) we could meet up and have a snow WW GTG :)

Right-O Zen, here's what you were after!!
There's only 4 weeks till the EVENT! does anyone know any decent pubs where we can have a beer, feed and share stories of our days excitements and purchases?
SWMBO recomends the Duke of York, you can book in advance and they have a nice beer garden.
Any suggestions?

Sorry Ian, I don't know how I missed your post - I did do a search before starting another thread. I don't think I could attend the M&D, but is it possible for attendees to gather at one place on each day at a given time? This way a face to face could achieved for some.;)

I propose a twice-daily mustering opportunity at the Ubeaut stand at 10.30 and 3.30.

The cafe gets very crowded at those times, and it's hard to pick out people.

Wear your WWForum cap and your avatar name tag to aid recognition. The template is in here:

Ok Then, after being missing in action for some time I am back.

I have taken on Evans Idea for the Duke of York and booked a table for Saturday 15/7/2006 for 20 people ( I can change this and add to or remove numbers as needed) I havent yet made a time. Any ideas??

The Duke of York is at 82 Currie Street in the city.

The price of meals is from $10.50 to $20.00 and there are the normal pub meals as well as daily specials. I was told that most meals are in the $13-$15 mark.

It would be good to see as many faces as we can get there.

Cheers Ian:)

Thanks Ian for organising the dinner. I enjoyed meeting up with new and old friends alike and the U beaut team. Alix, I had a look at your blackwood table and chairs and they are terrific. Thanks Tankstand for making such a beautiful pen and whenever I use it I will think of you, Ian and Gavin.
Now for some forward planning. I understand Studley has agreed to hold the Adelaide Meet and Greet No.6 and I will hold No.7. I think No. 7 could be around 25th November or 2nd December so that will give Studley time to finish off his wood distribution project and get organised. What do you think Studley?

Doing the timber has been not so bad Trevor. That is pretty much finished now for me. Timber for Adelaide and Melbourne is coming out almost as we speak. Sydney and Brisbane to follow. Guys down south got first go at it because the Mill wanted to look after ours first. When it gets to Adelaide we have to sort out individual delivery. We might be lucky to have Tankstand help us out there. So it is pretty smooth for me.

Anyway next meet and greet end of August early september should be good for me.
