Hi all.

Does anyone know where I could source spare ferrules / steel hoops for Japanese chisels?

With most chisels I make my own ferrules out of brass or copper, but these are different, being forged and shaped -- as you would know.

Does anyone know where they are available?

Cheers,
GW

Somewhere - online or in a mag - I read one solution - just cut a short ring off a piece of gal water pipe, then grind the gal off & give it a nice rounded exterior on a linisher or belt sander in a clamp.

Don't wear gloves - skin grows back but a pretzelized finger is stuffed forever.

Go to your steel supplier and buy some ERW in the size you want.

Al :)I went to my steel supplier for a 6ft piece of 3/4 gal and they wanted me to by a 6m length. Bloody sharks.

Just go to the local tool store.

Oh, I see you are in Sydney, so that doesn't help you now does it? :D

Ifin you can't find something else to fit the bill, let me know. Small and cheap, just need to know the size.
