I have a fair stockpile of rosewood (scented variety) which I plan to turn when I get my new lathe. Previously I turned a number of bowls (turns beautifully) , but regretably the timber bleeds through most finishes I used including poly urethane.
I did a number of kitchen benchtops with the slabs, and used a 2 pack high gloss, high wear estapol, and I have had no bleeding. (the benchtops look fantastic!)
But I am loathed to use a similar finish on a nice bowl (if I can avoid that).
Any suggestions on finishing rosewood?
Cheers:D

Give your timber a good hard rub down with acetone. If the bleeding is heavy you may need to repeat again until the spots are cleared. When dry it is ready for a finish.
