Check this one out if you feel that the bowls you are turning are perhaps too large and safety is an issue.

Not long ago in an Oz turning mag I saw one that had the turners kid sitting in it and I thought that was big!

I wonder how many $2 tubes of CA it would take to finish this 'un!

Got a couple of brush box trees nearly that big up here! Only problem is that they are in the Nightcap National park.

That bowl was made in Germany. There is a photo progression if you look on their site.

I believe that the Big bowl was made at Proserpine.:)

The naughty turner hasn't even got his face shield on properly
Not that it would do anything if that bowl came flying off :D

I reckon if it came off, he'd be chasing it into the next state or at least the next farm!! And imagine the carnage it would cause along the way- (couple of dead cows and a horse maybe, even the odd squashed passenger vehicle!!
Imagine the headlines- "horse killed by runaway bowl" or "woodturner charged with manslaughter"
cheers

The danger is to fall in the shavings and be taken away by the vacuum cleaner :)

Heres the thread link to the Proserpine Club But the link with in no longer works. From memory it weighed in at two tonnes and was at the time the largest bowl made being turned by hand tools. It now reside in the local museum up there.
If any body on the forum comes from up that way maybe they can supply some pics of it being turned.

LOL nice ones. I though of a couple more headlines:

"A rolling bowl gathered no moss, but killed three sheep along the way"

"Woodturner breaks Brett Lee's Bowling Speed Record"

"A night on the turn ends in bowl rampage!"
