Hi Pete,
it looks great mate. It is a very nice mate.
How did you go with the new sander? Do you recomend it?

Nice form, any particular reason you did the drawer upside-down?

Innovation? to See if we are paying attention? :o

I love it PTC. I especially love the even cut of the space between the drawer and the outside. It's a very beautiful piece!! Congratulations!

Cheers
Wendy

I was wondering if it had something to do with what someone, somewhere (the WIP where this box was previewed) asked about stopping the drawer from rolling over.

I think that the flap makes the box, it adds that wow factor. :) I don't think it'd last long here though... too likely to get a hard knock and shear off along the grain. This isn't a criticism of the box, just a sad fact of life here. (House full of rough-necks. )

Skew.
I said it was full of "Inovations".
acctually it does not roll over. all the weight is in the bottom of the draw.
did not check draw before cutting hence up side down.
next time i do a round draw i will cut two keyways into the base of the draw.

Wendy
thank you for the praise.

A 6" X48" sander (linnisher)
is a Must Have for making bandsaw boxes.
Will post pic of it. after recharging batteries in camera.

Is a bandsaw drawer cut the wrong way up called an Irish Drawer?

Ah. I thought I was the only one who did things like that. Sometimes I concentrate so hard on hiding all the little mistakes that the really bigs 'uns slip through. :o Worse, I often don't even see them until someone (usually the customer) asks "why did you do that?"

Good point about the weighting of the drawer, I hand't thought of that. Obviously.

I really like this one, ptc. Agree that the flap makes it stand out, and is such a simple decorative idea. Was it hard to get the finish in the space between the box and the flap?

An option for the flap would be to cut it off completely, then glue it back on after finishing it. That would make it easy to do the finishing, and you could achieve a very sharp apex at the join (though you'd have to be careful not to get finish on the glueing area). Just a thought.

I also like the near-90 degree angle between the entry cut and the circular outline of the drawer: an interesting feature that balances the flap.

I didn't notice the upsidedown drawer until Skew pointed it out. Curse you, Skew;)

Zenwood.
inside of flap is just sanded. no finish.
It is a no no gluing bits back on.
the original design was flaps at each side .
but did not work out as planned.
so it was inovations.
