View Full Version : Help wanted with dust hood for new thicknesser

I took delivery today of a Delta thicknesser, the TP400. This is the latest version of the 560 (which became the 565).

As an aside, I had ordered the 560 from Carba-tec, who were having a run out sale of this machine. So getting the latest version at the sale price was a nice surprise ($599). The dust hood is extra ($49). Well, at least I get a spare set of replacable (double-sided), self-setting blades.

But I am mystified how to install the dust hood. It looks like it just screws on the back (there are two holes that appear correct). However if I do this, the extraction fitting will point down and be in the way of the planing table. By the way, the dust hood is marked Delta 560, so it is correct for this machine.

When it comes to thicknessers I am a complete novice. Am I even looking at the right end? :eek:

There was a review on Amazon which said it doesn't come with any directions because you don't need them?

On the out-feed side of my 22-560 there is a curved cover plate above the cutter head which is held in place with two knurled head screws. This is the cover plate that is removed when changing the blades. With the power cord unplugged remove the two knurled head screws and remove the cover. The dust extraction chute fits in place of the curved cover and is held in place with the two knurled screws removed previously and two bolts in the kit. :)

Thanks Sprog. I just could not see how the dust hood could fit - no instructions, and no indication that one part replaces another. Of course, the moment you mentioned this it was obvious. Thanks.
