Damn, just had a look and it is sold. Went for $1800. I think I would have bought it for that.

How's the Rapid 600 going? Do you regret not getting a mitre slot on your table?

Hey Flying,

Could not be happier with my saw.

I don't really need or use a mitre slot on the bandsaw ( I've got one on my 14" and never used it either).

I saw at the Sydney wood show a stall holder had a centauro ( I think) 700 for sale for $2475. Seemed to go allright - just a little bit of vibration.

You made a decision yet???

Bloggs, no decision yet, but am looking hard at the Felder 640 & Rapid 700, which is only $200 more than your 600, so why not.

Did your machine come with a 4 or 5 pin plug?

Mate I can't remember. I'll have a look tomorrow. All I know is I got a 3 phase extension cord made up to run the saw and didn't get much change out of $500 ( never having done this before I thought maybe $100). I would suggest that For Wood wire them up so you should be able to ask for what you want.

Please don't buy the 700 - I'll be jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't mind doing it up, there's a bloke (billiard table manufacturer who now doesn't manufacture but imports from China) at Caloundra has a big 36" 3-phase unit for sale at $600. I had a look last week, but it didn't have a power plug on it and was in the yard and couldn't be tested, so I passed. It also needed retyring, but it looked in pretty fair nick generally. he also had the most bizarre pattern-following lathe I've ever seen. bed was at least 2m long and it is a hand-made conversion of a metal lathe with 5 saw blades set up to do the pattern following. Weird, but he swears it works well...

Usual caveats, no association, etc.

Hi Exador, how do I get in touch with this bloke?

The number I have is (07)54915999. The guy's name is Darren, I think. I got onto it through the trading post, which I just had another look at, but I didn't see the saw, just the lathe. He's probably worth a call though.
