Glad you enjoyed the pictures, how the collection came about is on my website. Mr. Talbot (the maker) is a very talented man and at over 80 doesn't do a bad job.

More of my collection

Hope all that are seeing are enjoying the collection.
The collection in total is
Remington 1863 Army
Webley
Colt Paterson 1836
Colt Walker 1847
Colt Dragoon 1847 and Colt Pocket 1848
Colt Navy 1851
Colt Army 1860
Colt Army Conversion 1871
Colt Peacemaker 1873
Colt Frontier 1880
The idea of the collection was to create a collection of the history of working wooden replicas that show the history of the single action revolver. As Colt was the first to commercially produce the revolving chamber. Mr Talbot concerntrated mainly on Colts. The Remington was there as I use to shoot one and to show that other manufacturers had some great ideas which Colt took up to 20 year to introduce into his revolvers.

Will post more pictures later between woodwork pics and woodcarving

I hope you enjoy my website www.classic-arms.com (http://www.classic-arms.com)
Thanks Ken

This wooden replica is pat of the collection.
Could not post the Army without the conversion

Colt factory converted his black powders cut off the nipples and hammer, put in an ejector rod and gate. Fixed sights, (not on hammer) and had a floating firing pin.

Thanks Ken

Last one
I do hope people enjoy Mr Talbot's work and my website
www.classic-arms.com (http://www.classic-arms.com)

The Frontier is similar to the Peacemaker but was a 44/40 instead of a 45 checkered grips and the clyinder comes out with a push button instead of the screw.

So this is the whole collection posted

The only concern I had after the collection was finished is that I realised it is and will be the only collection in the world..hence the reason of posting so many threads. Because I have no family to leave it to it is important that I share what has been done so others can have a crack of doing something similar.

All turned wood parts were made on a metal lath and made to measure with a micrometer readings

They are rifled and work..except discharging a bullet. Mr Talbot uses his old gunsmithing tools to get them exact.

I think they are reasonably special

Thanks for sharing them with me

Don't forget more threads under woodcarving

Ken I have seen these on the web some months ago and they are a piece of magnificent work
Because I am into shooting hand guns I have always wanted to attempt to make a revolver like your photo"s.
I would like to know more about your work

Hi Bob

The man who makes these revolvers is over 80 and an ex gunsmith so not only is a talented gunsmith that has make rifles that have won some of the most prestigous shooting comps...including Bisley
enough of that........
He has his gunsmithing tools that he has adapted to wood use.
He turns all his wood on a small metal lath adapted so the teeth don't get glogged up with sawdust etc.

He has access to most of the originals to be able to reproduce the wooden revolvers accurately...some modifications to working parts had to be made so they work in wood.

On my website (after the Collectors programme) I put on my PDF files ( under Ken Lewitzka) so people could download and have a go at copying.

How we made the templates for the rough cut out is there and as much as I could do at the time in photos to help others.

The PDF. are large... so don't force them open until fully down loaded, otherwise they can crash.

If you want more info please contact me through the website and I will help as/if I can.

The 1836 Patterson is a ripper..how Mr Talbot made it all work including the powder flask I don't know...He really is brilliant.

Hope this helps..let me know...
want to share as much as I can before they get sold and go overseas.
