Redgy 16th June 2006, 09:41 PM Hi all, does someone know will an AJA001 jigsaw plate fit a RTA300? Looks from the website that the I need a AJA300. I've found a AJA001 on special for less than $30 but not going to buy it if it won't fit....looks a bit bigger than the plate the router is mounted on.
Any help appreciated

Stuart 16th June 2006, 11:13 PM Have never seen the AJA001, but I would say - no.
The older router table actually used what it is now the Router mounting kit (AJA150) to hold the router under the table. It is now used only for allowing the router to be used in the WC2000 for cutting trenches etc. It is significantly bigger than the hole in the current router table.
I'm guessing therefore, that the old jigsaw plate is the same size as the AJA150.
You are better going for the AJA300 anyway. Again, I have the feeling that the AJA001 did not include the blade support arm (which also includes dust extraction), which is a big part of the current kit. I may be wrong on whether it was available back then, so let me know if I'm wrong.

Redgy 17th June 2006, 06:47 AM Thanks Stuart, the 300 looks like a better thing anyway with the top support & dust extraction. Will revisit the shop today & see if they've got one, then see if I can get a similar discount on it :)

Stuart 17th June 2006, 12:42 PM The blade support arm would be the main justification for using the jigsaw in a table. Also provides a bit of safety (not that I imagine you can do anywhere near as much damage to yourself with an exposed jigsaw blade than you could with a circular saw blade, or bandsaw.)
Just George 17th June 2006, 08:01 PM The jigsaw plate you have seen is for the older model Router Table(RTA200 or Series 2000 Router Table). It won't fit the RTA300 but will fit into the Workcentre if you have the older Router Table(RTA200) and is also good for overhead routing(ie, trenches for shelving) in the Workcentre.

Redgy 18th June 2006, 07:28 AM Thanks George, I don't have a workcentre only the router table so it's of little use to me. Unfortunately the shop that is having the big sale hasn't got a AJA300 in stock so I will have to pay full $$ for it...never mind.

bpj1968 18th June 2006, 11:49 AM Reg i have the the AFA300 with the support arm. I had also used the jigsaw withe the old mount plate when I owned an earlier series table the support arms main purpose is to stabilise the "free" end of the blade, also dust extraction and hold the work down. It performs the first two jobs well, but I found that arm didn't hold down the work. The arm pivots around the rear round tube. I found that the arm acted as a lever and I could never get eth clamp at the rear tight enough. After a short time I found that the arm would lift further and further off the work. I ended up breaking the clamp part trying to get it tight enough. I ended up with a solution by using a length of scrap to apply the pressure. Perhaps the round tube needs to have a rough grippy surface. I now have a scroll saw so I don't use it.
This unit costs $70-80 but at the moment you can pick up a GMC scroll saw at Bunnies for $49, that way you don't have to swap router to jigsaw to router ..... when using both tools on one job.

woody62 21st June 2006, 02:24 PM The only mod if you can it that is to not use the plastic guide on the rear positioning bolt on the jigsaw mounting plate. (AJA300)
