old goat 3rd July 2006, 10:21 PM Hi regardless of the name, I am quiet young at this. So this is a test to see if I am doing the right thing. Great reading so far, have got some cool ideas. Renovating a Queenslander, have got some good timber, thinking of making furniture, has anyone got any ideas?
Carry Pine 3rd July 2006, 10:50 PM Where do you start? Do you have a bed? What is the ratio of time, renovation:making furniture? What are you able to make- breadboards, stools or tables?
You need to give us more info.

BobL 4th July 2006, 12:46 AM Welcome Old_goat.
I have some more questions for you. What sort of timber, what sort of tools ?
Carry on.
old goat 5th July 2006, 05:57 PM I think the timber is Mackay Cedar, is a reddish/brown colour. i am coffee table or tv cabinet, so far have made a tv table for my son and a computer table for the family computer. The timber is all stored undercover in the shed and if it was originally on the house is 70+ years old.
Tool wise i possess the basics in chisels, planes, jigsaw, sander and router.
TassieKiwi 5th July 2006, 06:22 PM Furniture is only bits of wood stuck together in different ways. You can do anything!
Deside on size, style, timber(got that) finish. Draw a plan, or get one from a book or on the net. Build it.
