Just a note to say thanks to this forum. I got this idea for the turning from a picture previously posted. I just can't remember where on this forum. I would like to thank him for putting the picture up. http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/attachment.php?attachmentid=26070&stc=1&d=1152297933Bubinga, Yellowheart, Purpleheart, Padauk laminations in a Poplar base. It's about 1/4 thick x 4" dia. X 15" tall. Hollowing that inside taper is a bit of a bother. Finish is Shellawax. It's titled "Sorceror's Apprentice" and it is a Merlin's wand holder. The theme of the fair was "magic".

Sorry about the photo. I was at Scout camp last week. I'm not sure what happened, the preview looked fine. Probably has something to do with the way water swirls backwards where you folks live;)

Can't find it at the moment but I remember the thread. Can't recall who proposed the problem but I think it was 'Midge who came up with the order and angle of the laminations.

Was fascinated by that myself and still have to try it.
