I want to apply a second layer of silicone in the bathroom to some areas where the old silicone has not been fully applied and there are small holes/gaps.

I want to apply the new silicone on top of the old silicone.

Will it work?

And advice would be appreciated.

Hi I am no expert on silicone, but I had to re-do some silicone joints in my own bathroom. I used a trimming knife blade to cut back the existing silicone to a point that allowed me to cover it over with a new even bead of silicone.

Another reason, the sealant may be a different color. To go over the top of the existing as it is, might mean having to put a larger bead than is already there. This might not look so nice, but it will work ok.
