I guess it was only a matter of time before the advent of battery powered routers.
Noticed a Porter Cable 19.2 volt one in an English WW magazine...bloody pricey for what you get ...but considering cost of tools over there no wonder!!
May have some good applications for those jobs well away from a power source as doe's all battery tools. The versatility remains to be seen but I reckon we'll be inundated by all popular brands before you know it.

I'm sure the price will come down and I wonder what one would need a battery powered router for, but then, I'm sure we all said this about other rechargables.

Cordless is the cargo cult of the current time. Cordless microphones, cordless telephones, cordless powertools, .......
I have come to te conclusion that less than 10% of cordless applications are realy wortwhile. I can see many good uses of cordless technologies, but it aint the holy grail.
Besides It will always go flatt when you need it most.
Whats the point of a cordless power tool with a dust extraction hose???
