Snell & Atherton spokeshaves

I am trying to establish the history of these spokeshaves. A web search suggest they are leatherworkers tools? Any information would be gratefully received, thank you,

I have a couple myself, yet to be rehabbed and sharpened.

Yes, you're right they are leather-working tools, but they are also highly regarded as a concave shave for woodwork. They're also not that cheap to come by, unless you're given them (like mine).
