I saved a piece of stringybark destined for my fire. I cut it somewhere on my property but can't remember where so I dont have any more.
As I was turning it I noticed the spalting. It gives an interesting effect. The bowl is about 9" in diameter with a mostly natural edge. I will touch it up when I can as I am not happy with the finish yet.

Excellent work, use a drill with a sanding drum to finish it off.

Looks good Tery B.
I am a nut for natural edging, and you did well to keep it on the rim. As far as the finish goes it looks pretty damn good to me. By the way, do you have a heater in your "shed"! You'd want one by the looks of that photo you posted on the other thread, otherwise your fingers might snap off!!:D

The finish is just shellawax cream. I hand buff it on the uneven surface and the rest just on the lathe.
