Hey all
For sum1 that is new to routing/picture framing and pretty well everything to do with woodworking in general http://ubb.ubeaut.com.au/ubb/smile.gif
I was wondering what a good bit is, to do mouldings on picture frames.

I guess im not looken at anything too fancy at the moment just a few general ideas as too what bits i might need to do frames.

Thanks
Tony

i depends on what profile you are looking for.
many of the common shape profiles could be put to use.

many of the fancy profiles are made by multiple passes & possibly diferent bits.

there is a good book about the subject arround can't remember the name but its in the carbatec catalogue.

cheers

Hi finnster, what I do is have a look at the popular profiles in the shops that carry multiple frames ...mind ..asking the shop attendant which is popular as a seller raises suspicion moreover when copying the profile using a profile gauge.
This then allows you to approach the Router bit catalogue for your means to emulate what you want.
Carba-Tec/CMT/Timbecom all have internet access to help you decide...the range is vast and only limited by your own imagination.

You are in the best spot for good quality cutters as the Carb-I-Tool industries are in Melbourne and they produce a great range of cutters.
