Not that I need a new lathe, but I don't trust ebay... got burned on there the only time I ever bought.

I saw somewhere on his site he said he was upgrading to a VL300 (Vicmarc) (http://www.vicmarc.com/Page.php?PageId=Lathes&LatheId=7). That is a nice lathe.

And yup there is bigger than that too!!

I had a look at the picture that Nova they look more solid then the vicmarc is that a photo ellusion? I think those Nova look gorgeous I like that movable head. I have only got a mini lathe and I know working inside a bowl or that I have played with I get sore neck. So I loved that with the nova. Plus there will be no outgrowing her I thought. Guess I am wrong.

I'd say an illusion, the VL300 is a meaty piece of kit but it would want to be around the $4,500 mark. I have long lusted after a VL300 or a Stubby, but the price point is just too high. I love my DVR3000, it does everything that I want at this point in my turning life. Can't see myself outgrowing it or justifying an upgrade for a long time to come.

this one big enough? Wadkin RS (http://www.lathes.co.uk/advertphoto/060619wadkinrs/)

I think this is probably the biggest and the best Factory produced lathe ever made Wadkin RU 18 (http://www.wigzellmachinery.com/PICTURES/Woodworking/Lathes/WadkinRUwoodturninglathe.jpg). Can turn 600mm diameter and about 1300mm diameter with the gap bed opened up, and anything up to 3600mm long. No pulleys here, all solid gears so dont get caught in it, not much would stop it. also can turn a pen:p

Yes but 's lathe is a custom purpose built monster. The RU 18 is a factory produced lathe.
(Sorry I am getting picky, I edited my original question:o)
