I have been using Large Brazilian Pine Knots for wood turnings, to make utensils and other exotic pieces.
They are the hardest wood I have ever seen, look beautiful and last for thousands of years.
I want to share this with other woodworkers.

These knots would have come from south americam araucaria. In Queensland we also have araucarians in the form of hoop and buyna pines. I have seen and collected some of these knots from trees that have died , fallen over, rotted away except for the knots and a bit of bark. These knots look like the ribs from a dead whale and I have used them a little and I can say that they are very hard and interesting.
