what exactly is ornamental turning is it joust about turning things that look nice.:confused:

Wow, I wish I had the time to understand how those machines work.

I bet you could use them to make some amazing pool cues !!:)

Thats what I was thinking. I have seen a few examples before, I'll have to try and dig out a pict or two. Cheers.

the one in my link is a rose engine, which wouldn't really be suitable for spindle work. But in my search for that particular one (which I'm building, slowly, slowly...) I came across a couple of different types which should do what you want quite nicely.

I wonder if I can find the links again? :confused: I won't hold my breath...

Here is one pict I found.

I thinks some is hand carved, but some is probably turned on one of those amazing machines that I don't understand !!:cool:
