Does anyone know where I can buy a Makita resaw bandsaw. These were made as a dedicated deep cutting bandsaw ; 240v 1.5 HP.
2in stellite tip raker-set blades. All cast construction with 14in wheels-2 W/out lining so as to run 1.5mm kerf high tension blades.
Will pay up to 2K for S/hand unit .

Hitachi make a resaw also sounds similar to what you describe.
Carbatec have the Hitachi in their catalogue might be worth a look if you can't find a good usedy.

Dear Soundman and Bruce Bell,
Thankyou guys for kindly offering those suggestions re: bandsaw/resaw. Still deliberating cost of Hitachi vs. finding a second-hand Makita. I'm cutting Brazilian Rosewood (dalbergia nigra) for guitar backs and sides so each saw kerf costs me around $50 in sawdust!
Thanks again.
Cheers,

If you are doing musical instrument work I wouldn't fiddle about.
You will be cutting very thin veneers.
that need to be regular form relitavely expensive material.
Buy the best you can get & tune the bugger pitch perfect.

I gather you are upgrading from a normal band saw?

If you havn't already seen it there was a realy good article on band saw tuning written by an instrument maker in Fine Wood Working a few years ago.
