Okay, after a long wait for some 4F pumice to arrive from the US the stuff finally arrived so work has resumed on the classical. Attached pics show the guitar after application of two spit coats of 1.5lb blonde shellac. The shellac is Liberon brand flakes dissolved in technical grade Meths. Spit coats were applied using folded squares of well worn T shirt material. Bindings and purflings were wiped first and then a fresh surface of the pad exposed before wiping remaining surfaces with overlapping circular wipes. A drop of pure olive oil was added to the pad at each recharge. The back and sides look a bit grotty but quality of the finish is not important as pumice grain filling job is next.

In following pics pumice grain filling has ben done and one bodying session completed. Each bodying session is as follows:

1. Body on with 6-8 drops of shellac, 4-5 drops alcohol and 1 drop pure olive oil on muneca. Apply with overlapping circular and then straight strokes.

2. Stiff off with 4-5 drops of alcohol and 1-2 drops shellac on pad. Straight strokes of muneca with overlapping circular ones in problem areas.

3. Second body layer followed by stiff off.

4. End session with spirit off with alcohol only on muneca.

Notes:

1. Shellac is 2lb cut blonde shellac, meths is technical grade (100% eyhanol) and oil is pure olive oil. Important that oil has on additives.

2. Heel cap looks a bit funny....managed to leach out alot of the rosewood colour during spiriting off. Might have to touch up with some stain.
