I desperately need some thin resawing done by someone who can accurately resaw down to about 4 mm with a thin kerf, preferably no more than 1.5mm. The material to be cut is figured Blackwood and Australian cedar between 200 and 250 wide.

You will lose more than 1.5mm with each cut.
because for accuracy you realy should joint the board between cuts.
So you need someone with a well tweeked band saw with a sharp blade and a jjointer with a bed wide enough to take your stock.

Sorry I can't help.
cheers

I think there is some guy in Gympie who specialises in thin cut timber, a lot of scrollsawers buy from him.Have a look in your local phone book (if it stretches that far)

I cut my figured guitar tops at Woodnyou in Rocklea (or is that Cooper's Plains?). He's got a ripsaw that cuts about 100m per pass, so obviously you can't cut a piece of wood larger than 200mm. I think his blade is 2mm wide. I cut my tops at 5mm wide, I'm sure you could do yours to 4mm without any problems. The result looks great coming out of the ripsaw and the top just needs very light sanding through one of his drum sander to get rid of the center line. Easy.

I love the fact that I can rent time on his machines and do the job myself too. You're never better served than by yourself :)

Any well tweeked band decent sized band saw (and there are plenty of us with those) should do 300mm rip without trouble particularly with a fresh blade buy 1.5 to 2mm kerf is about minimum.
and to get good recovery and multiple cuts jointing between in the go.
