Can anyone recommend a supplier/distributor of gaboon/okoume marine ply in Perth, Western Australia?

I found enough to start a project, understanding that more would be coming in, but the supply seems to have dried up. I'd appreciate any pointers, before I resort to private shipments interstate.

Austim

252 Gnangara Rd Landsdale 6065(08) 9409 6111
They have lots of the stuff, just give them a call before you depart as they sometimes have to break up packs etc. Cheaper than Morgans, usually.
Good place for just about any timber really, the place is huge.
Bloody family, there every where!
Hope this helps.

I spoke to Austim looking for some 4.5mm marine ply - but they didn't have any in stock. But they put me on to Amerind Forest Industries in Kewdale (9353 3504). Amerind had heaps of 4.5mm at $9.50 per sqm. I'm not sure what quality it is - its imported from Fiji and is a light pine colour, but thats all I know about it. It has an Australian standards marine ply stamp on it and looks OK to me.

The best part was that I ordered on Thursday and it was delivered on Friday for a charge of $10. I even got the packing sheets too, which I'm sure will come in handy for templates or moulds in the future.

I have not been in the forum for a while but could not help noticing this thread.

Try Barry Sorenson, phone 94466159.

I tried to source some 6mm gaboon ply for a dinghy sailer project - an Iain Oughtred designed 'Auk'. Austim had gaboon in all but the thinner sheets. Duckflat Boats in SA kindly redirected me to Barry, whom I have yet to meet. The ply is on its way. Getting it from SA was going to be very expensive.

BTW I noticed another contributor had recommended Austim. I bought some excellent hoop pine there recently. Very helpful people. They have impressive stocks of WRC too.

I hope that this is useful

I know this thread is getting a bit old now but I recently starting working for a company that imports Marine Ply from over East. Good prices and I'll look after ppl from forums.

Boating Hardware (08) 9339 9900

We also do Bote Cote, Jotun, a huge range of 316 S/S and over 20 different types of fibreglass.

Cheers,
