After the recent fires in the ACT some friends have been advised that they have to remove a damaged yellow box tree (Eucalyptus melliodora) on their property. The tree is huge and whilst reluctant to remove the tree they thought they could at least salvage some timber slabs with a view to making some tables, etc.. I'm just seeking some advice as to whether yellow box timber is worth salvaging and if so the best way to get the slabs milled and dried.

I have used yellowbox in the past for furniture and it comes up really well.
The tree we got it from was dead and went over in a storm and we got a portable sawmill for the job.
The timber finishes really well and has a beautiful pale gold lustre when poisjed in its natural state (no stain).
The sawmiller (?) quarter sawed the tree but I am not able to comment on drying this timber.

Edit....typing standing up, read POLISHED not poisjed
